Mission & Values

Boston Zouk on the Docks (a.k.a. ZOTD) is a queer- and POC-run community rooted in care, inclusivity but not with hateful values or views, and connection. Our mission is to grow the Brazilian Zouk community in Boston while intentionally creating a space where LGBTQIA+ folks and people of color feel centered, respected, and safe. We offer a friendly, casual, and comfortable environment for everyone to dance—with an emphasis on consent, mutual respect, and inclusive practices but not welcoming to views that are hateful towards the QUEER and POC communities. Switching roles and same-sex dancing are always welcomed and encouraged.

What We Do

We host outdoor dance socials during warm weather and transition to indoor events in colder months.

Since 2014, Zouk on the Docks (ZOTD) has been a cornerstone of the Boston zouk scene—building a strong, connected community and spreading the love of zouk while centering respect for all dancers.

Queer Dance Boston was also created to provide partner dance spaces of different dance styles that intentionally support and welcome LGBTQIA+ dancers. QDB collaborates with other queer instructors and organizers to offer queer- and ally-centered dance events with a variety of partner dance classes every month.

Queer Zouk, Bachata and Salsa classes — learn to lead and follow regardless of gender
