José Cuadra - Organizer, Director and Dance Instructor

A gay, immigrant dancer from Nicaragua, he has been part of the Boston dance community for over 20 years. Trained in Zouk, Bachata, Kizomba, Salsa, and Argentine Tango, his dance journey has been one of deep exploration and transformation.

While learning Argentine Tango, he was introduced to the concept of switching roles—and immediately fell in love with it. Since then, he has embraced both leading and following in all dances, evolving his dance language into one that is fluid, expressive, and boundary-breaking.

After facing years of discrimination and prejudice in the dance world, he made a powerful decision: to become a Brazilian Zouk instructor and organizer. These challenges ignited a fire within him—a drive to be a force for change.

Now a certified Brazilian Zouk instructor and community leader in Boston, he has created performance teams and events that highlight, embrace, and educate. His work opens minds and challenges traditional norms, showing what’s possible when dance becomes a space for true expression and inclusivity.
